Red Bean Bag Café @ Solaris Dutamas

August 6, 2013

There’s nothing much to see at Publika, but that’s a good thing because it meant that the place wouldn’t be as crowded as the rest of the shopping malls in the Klang Valley come the weekends, and the dozens of eateries here meant that there’s always something new to try, like the Red Bean Bag Café.

There’s a choice of al fresco dining outside the café, or you can opt to sit inside where it’s air conditioned. We opted for al-fresco as it’s easy to maneuver Kendric’s stroller around. Do note that comes lunch time, the place will probably be full to the brim, so better to head there early if you plan to dine during weekends.

We were presented with the menu, which is pretty special being glued to a cardboard and here’s a look at their Breakfast selections.

Coffee Art on our Cappuccino (RM9) and Latte (RM9), while I do find the coffee here just average.

Skyscraper (RM17), basically a stacks of fluffy pancakes drizzled with maple syrup and chocolate sauce, with caramelized bananas and assorted fruits. Kayden likes to eat pancakes so it’s a must order for us. I like the caramelized bananas as it adds a distinctive flavour to the pancakes, but otherwise the pancake is just like any normal pancakes.

RBB’s Egg Atlantic (RM18) which I ordered is pretty special. Served with poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, spinach, mushroom, and of course smoked salmon on top of two fluffy French toast bread. The portion could be consider small, perfect for small eaters. I particular like the fluffy French toast because it’s rather special to go with the poached eggs and salmon. Wouldn’t mind to go for a 2nd serving for me.

The Awesome Breakfast Fry Up (RM22) is the one to go if you’re up for a hearty meal. You can select the choices of eggs, sausages and either bacon/ham to go with baked beans, hash brown, grilled mushrooms, zucchinis and tomatoes with 2 slices of bread. Despite the name, it’s not as awesome as the selection of sausages and bacons are pretty normal, so all in all it’s just average. Perhaps something else from the menu will be a better choice, and of course if compare to other places like Antipodean, Jarrod & Rawlin’s or Blue Cow Café.

Despite all the hype about the Red Bean Bag Café, I thought the food was ok and of course if I really want a hearty breakfast, I can always go to the rest of the places mention above. Maybe the food during dinner time would be better, this I’m not sure.
