Morganfield’s @ Pavilion

August 28, 2013

Earlier of the year, I’ve made a resolution for myself that I will try to gather the guys for a monthly meet up over dinner just to catch up, but unfortunately the last one that we had was back in April at Morganfield’s.

There’s a lot of places now in the Klang Valley that offers ribs, but only a handful that offer pork ribs, so I was a bit surprised when I got to know that it’s pork ribs that’s serve here rather than the traditional ribs, which in a way is quite different, like the difference between Tony Roma’s in KL and Singapore.

The place consist of 2 areas, the smoking area is located near the entrance and where the bar is also located, while the back is for non smokers. There are a variety of selection of beers if you’re planning for happy hour here.

While waiting for some latecomers, we went ahead and order the Appetizer Platter (RM34.90), which features Morganfield’s famous trio appetizer of Spicy Chicken Wings (which consist of 3 levels of spiciness), Russet Potato Skins and Corn Tortilla Chips served with a selection of dips (Crab & Spinach or Chili Concarne). The chicken wings are indeed spicy, even though we ordered the regular version, and goes well with cold beer. The dips for the Tortilla chips are pretty special and great as tummy fillers.

Knowing that we will be indulging in a lot of meat, we ordered the Smokin’ Duck Salad (RM22.90) just to fill up our vege quota. Smoked duck on a bed of mixed salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, spring onions, red chilies with sesame seed and both hard boiled egg and century egg, it’s definitely something different. Great salad!

The 6 of us didn’t order any mains, as we decided to go ahead to order the Ribs Sampler (RM169.90) because we get to choose all their 3 signature Sticky Bones.

When it’s served, we were really glad that it’s the only thing we order because even with 6 men, we couldn’t finish the entire thing. From left to right, Smoked Peppercorn, Garlicky BBQ and Hickory BBQ.

Grilled Footlong Farmer’s Bratwurst, Thuringer and Hungarian sausage. All 3 were deliciously porky! Some grilled corn hobs and fries to go with it.

Corn bread and garden salad. Just in case you’re not full from the 3 slabs of ribs.

Out of the 3 ribs, I like the Smoked Peppercorn the best, Garlicky BBQ second and Hickory BBQ third but that’s my opinion but don’t take my word, try all 3 and choose the one that you like most!

I wouldn’t mind dropping by again because the food is pretty good and there’s still a lot in the menu that we wanted to try but our tummy is just flat out. Morganfield’s also offer set lunches starting from RM16.90 and the selection is pretty good too. Looking at the photos now already made me drooling, maybe I should go there one of these days.
