Goku Raku Ramen @ Mid Valley

February 5, 2012

During the Christmas period, we have a week break from work and decided to do some last minute shopping at our favourite malls in the middle of the Klang Valley (that is Mid Valley and Gardens) since we knew as well that after the new born we won’t be doing much shopping at least for the 1st month.

Initially wanted to meet up the gang for lunch but they couldn’t find this great place and decided to go for Pasta Zanmai instead and we ended up discovering some very good porky ramen in KL.

Goku Raku Ramen is located at the 2nd floor just outside of Jusco entrance, and being a fan of Japanese food, we didn’t hesitate to give it a try since the interior looks pretty alright.

A pretty well design menu, although we didn’t ordered anything inside but opt for their set meals instead.

There’s a variety of Ramen Set Meals and the price is reasonable, comes with side orders of your own choosing. Do note as well that the place is non-halal which makes it more delicious.

Kayden is a big fan of noodles, so it’s no surprised that he likes the place too, as long as there’s noodles and soup!

May ordered the Ultimate Tonkatsu Ramen (RM20.90) and looks really good when it arrives at our table. Hard boiled egg topped with slices of pork along with the ramen and the pork broth, I haven’t recall anywhere that served such nice bowl of ramen.

Here’s May giving her nods for the ramen!

Jasmin, who tagged along as well ordered the Nitamago Tonkatsu Ramen (RM17.90), a slightly lighter version of the Ultimate Tonkatsu Ramen.

Well, Jasmin is also a big fan of ramen so there’s not much complain from her since she’s quite the picky eater.

I tried something different, which is the Garlic Rice with Tonjiru (RM16.90) that’s basically garlic rice served in a hot bowl with a mixture of vegetables and minced meat and some special sauce. Too bad the captain have mixed it all up before I can take a good photo of the before look. The rice is good, a good recipe whenever you are mixing it all up with rice and egg and minced meat.

The Tonjiru that comes with my set is very well boiled bowl of pork broth. It does seemed that the broth have been cooked for quite sometime as the soup is burst with flavour!

The Takuen or Gyoza look-a-like is served last after us finishing almost everything, but tasted good too.

The Annin Tofu (Almond Pudding) is part of Jasmin’s set and despite the weird tasting almond, it’s good too.

I like the good here at Goku Raku Ramen because of the quality of the broth being used in the ramen, but the only downside was the service was a bit haywire and some of our orders arrived late (like my Garlic rice) and I do see that it happens to a family seated next to our table too. The service could be improved but I don’t mind dropping by again for a good bowl of pork broth ramen!
