When I was driving back home yesterday, I texted my lunch gang to ask them for lunch since it’s Good Friday today. When they asked me where we are heading for lunch, I told them it’s a secret.
The Secret Garden by Passion Road is a colonial bungalow located at Lorong Yap Kwan Seng that has been tastefully turned into an exclusive venue for dining and private functions. The interior is full of Balinese themed decorations.
While the exterior or the garden is themed very Victorian-like and white, which I think there’s where the Secret Garden name comes from. The lunch set here ranges from RM10 to RM20 along with drinks and dessert. The selection will be depending on the day that you dine at this place.a
Like us, the available choices for today is either Ginger Chicken served with Steamed Rice or Penang Assam Laksa (RM10/set).
The Penang Assam Laksa according to Kel and Sherlin was not umph enough and lack the distinctive flavour of the actual Assam Laksa. They also did mentioned that it was not spicy enough.
A few of us ordered the Ginger Chicken with Steamed Rice and it turn out pretty good. The chicken is tender despite being breast meat.
There’s also a premier set lunch at RM15 that Jiun ordered Passion Road Nasi Lemak Special with Burmese Mutton Curry.
The set also comes with salad, Burmese White Fungus Mushroom Salad, which is quite appetizing as it’s a bit sourish, definitely a first time for me trying this type of salad. And since it’s a Nasi Lemak dish, definitely not to miss out is the sambal, which cooked with belacan instead of the traditional ikan bilis and it’s not spicy, which is good for Jiun cause she can’t take really spicy stuff.

Kel and Sherlin.
Carrot Cake as dessert for the premium set lunch.
Pengat Pisang for normal set lunch. I like the taste as the banana is being cooked with Gula Melaka and gives a very flavourful and fresh taste.
A rather nice lunch for just RM10 and with nice ambience. The only thing to worry about it the parking as the compound of the bungalow only allow up to 5-6 cars to park at a time. However, there’s ample parking space around the bungalow.
The place is also close for Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate private functions or events. So I think now, the place is not that secret anymore.
