I only started going to Karaoke at the age of 21, so in terms of tenure-ship, I think I’m way lagging back compare to a lot of my friend or colleagues. If you don’t know me by now, I’m quite a reserved kind of person and I normally need a lot of time to warm up, and being in a karaoke place meaning that you need to sing, not only to yourself, but more likely to friends and sometimes even family.
But thanks to karaoke, there’s where I learnt 80% of my Chinese (from reading to speaking), of course my mentor is no other than Jacky Cheung himself (coz there’s where I translate all his songs back in my teenage days and sing it out loud at home).
So whenever there’s a joyous (or sad) occasion, I will try to organize a Cheong K party. Like the time I organize this. And of course this year, I suggested to my Lunch gang that we should go sing karaoke to celebrate my birthday, since we haven’t been singing since like 3 months back.
Not all of my lunch gang could make it but as I always said, the less the merrier (coz I don’t have to ‘cheong’ mic with others). Here’s Shireen before she start singing Kenangan Terindah.
Jiun getting ready for some Fish Leong’s song.
Sherlin have to stand up, to be able to hit all the high notes of Amei’s song.
We started singing at 615PM and didn’t leave the place until 1030PM (and I initially thought that we can wrapped it up by 9PM). But it’s a fun night, coz I get to rapped like Jay-Z and the ladies got to sing like Alicia Keys.
So when are we going to do another karaoke session, lunch gang?
