Have you guys have a look at the Black Eyed Pea’s video on FB during Oprah’s Kickoff Party? It’s really a great video and the coordination is really great. I wondered if that happened during Arthur’s Day last Friday.
Been a busy weekend. Was at 1U on Saturday morning to give support for a company roadshow. Had a simple lunch before heading home as Jasmin had tuition. May are attending a wedding dinner and I am the chauffeur and while waiting for her, both me and Jasmin was hanging out at Lot 10 Dome Cafe.
May’s birthday falls on Sunday, and I have thought long and hard where have lunch (dinner is out as we both need to sleep early) and that is Jake’s Char-Grilled Steak House, hidden somewhere in the lower ground floor of Star Hill.
But before that, we were busy taking pictures around the shopping complex.
May seen here waiting to go to eat.
Some pictures of Star Hill. It’s been a long time since I step foot here and they have actually labelled their floors to very weird names, like Muse, Pamper, Feast, etc.
We of course head straight to the Feast floor, where the famous Shook! and other restaurants are located. Their washroom is actually a wonderful piece of architecture. You have to go in to experience it and unfortunately I didn’t took any photos while I am there.
I actually read about this place from Boss Stewie’s blog. The restaurant had a very cowboy feel and served one of the best steaks in town.
I guess the Raya crowd is still celebrating because we are the only customer there. Really looked like I reserved the entire place.
The best thing on the menu I think would be the Wagyu (about RM200+ per 200g), but since I have got gout and May’s is semi allergic to cow, we settle for something less expensive. But before that, we did ordered some starters.
Oxtail Soup (RM12) is quite thick and flavourful. The portion is not too big and just nice. Comes along with a piece of garlic bread. I think one of the best soup oxtail soup that I have tried.
I ordered something that I always like to eat, which is Escargot.
Their escargot (RM25) is done very differently from the ones that I have eaten. The normal one are usually baked with garlic and butter, but the ones here are baked using herbs and butter which is so out of the ordinary. I can actually taste quite a few spices used like rosemary and cinnamon. Definitely a must try.
Next comes the steak! May ordered a well done portion of Sirloin steak (RM60), while I ordered myself a medium done Rib Eye steak (RM71).
Sirloin steak with baked potato and vegetables.
My Rib Eye steak.
You know that the steak have to really good in ordered for it not to be served with sauce (as normally the sauce is used to cover any un-freshness of a piece of meat). True enough the steak is really good. It’s so fresh and juicy, you can even eat it on it’s own.
A close up photo of the food.
It was a very satisfying meal, and I do hope that she enjoyed it too (she’s having flu and sore throat that morning!)
Didn’t do much after that until dinner time. Bought a little cake from here,
which turns out to be like this,
not knowing what flavour inside.
Birthday girl making a wish before acting dramatic. And then finally a picture of us.
So dear, hope you and baby had fun! Next year’s picture there will be 3 of us, haha! Oh and I hope you like the present too!
