My Work Trip to Singapore and Eminent Frog Porridge @ Geylang

This month is probably the one month that I have the least post since starting the blog, and it was not help either with my going down to Singapore for work during the weekend. It’s my first time driving there and it’s quite an eye opener. Reached Singapore about 3PM and rushed down all the way to City Hall to look at my favourite things. Funan Digital Mall and Peninsula Shopping Complex. There’s the 2 places where sells the things I like, gadgets and jerseys. Didn’t get anything though since Mei Ting (my friend from Singapore) bought me a couple of jerseys 2 weeks back. Managed to get some patches and a game thought. The reason my shopping was cut short is because I’m meeting a couple of friends for dinner at Geylang. And since we have got some time, Wong drove me around the Marina Bay area for sight seeing. Was also rounding around Geylang to look for the famous Frog Porridge, and bumped into a few shops like the above. Of course, Geylang is the Red Light District of Singapore! SukiYa Shabu Shabu @ Marina Square, Singapore

In January, I tagged along May to Singapore while she was having 2 full day training there. As I was ditched for dinner as May need to entertain her colleagues, I met up an old friend to catch up and have dinner. She brought me to this place called Suki-Ya, which serves Shabu Shabu, buffet style. Set dinner is at SGD19.90, but you can also opt for unlimited drinks (Sake that is) for SGD24.90. I think it’s one of the best deal to have happy hour! On each table, customers are given the instruction on how to enjoy delicious Sukiyaki (the proper way that is). The instruction is pretty straight forward too. Select from a following 3 soup base, and then select your meat and off you go. We selected the Kimchi and Sukiyaki soup base, so that we can experienced the spiciness of the kimchi as well as the authentic taste of Sukiyaki. While waiting for the soup to heat up, we proceed to the buffet counter to select the additional that we want. Garrett Popcorn @ Marina Square, Singapore (Best Popcorn!)

During my last trip to Singapore, I discovered one of the best popcorn that I’ve ever eaten. Garrett Popcorn Shop, is located on the tunnel connecting Raffles City Mall with Marina Square, it’s pretty big so you won’t miss it when you are walking between the 2 malls. Sad to say, we Malaysians only eat popcorns when we are going to watch a movie, and the only choices we’ve got is well caramel. Both GSC and TGV now serve ok popcorn, but there were time that TGV popcorns are not tasty at all. My friend who had dinner with me that night said that it’s so new that even she didn’t know that it was there. There are quite a lot of sizes to choose from ranging from Small to Jumbo and the price will be depending on the types of popcorn that you choose. There are a few flavors to choose from like Cheese and Caramel Crisp and a few others, but after tasting the cheese, I think I rather stick to the conventional sweet popcorns. Eat Eat Eat & Buy Buy Buy @ Singapore

To sum up last week, I was down at Singapore for 2 and 1/2 days just to walk around by myself, while May is having her assignment there. So what I basically did is just eat and buy and walk by myself, not really that bad. We reached around evening and after checking into the hotel, we head to ION Orchard to have dinner and to walk around. This wasn’t around when we were there last time, nice shopping mall but that’s it. Had a quick dinner here at The Asian Kitchen, which serves Taiwanese food. Nothing much to shout about as it’s far less superior compare to the ones we had in Taiwan. Mee Suah tasted so so, my Stewed Mince Meat Rice is special with the way it’s presented but is not as tasty as the one at Wonstar Hotel. Stroll along Orchard Road for the remaining of the night and find out that all the malls have almost the same boutique, Zara, Topshop, G2000 so on. Still ended up leaving at 930PM and have to wait for a good half an hour to get a taxi. Did manage to get some printed tees from Uniqlo which hopefully…
