Back in September, we celebrated May’s birthday at Chicago not the actual city in the US but the restaurant that’s available at One Utama, where it’s famed for it’s ribs, pork ribs that is.
I’ve bought a Livingsocial deal earlier and it comes in set consist of a salad, a main meal and dessert which I thought was a pretty good deal. I’ve also booked a table via the Tableapp website, where you can conveniently reserve a place at some of the best restaurants in town. The app is also available on the app store for iOS devices.
There’s a few selection of mains, but seeing this big writing on the walls, we must order their famous pork ribs.
Our set meal comes with a cold salad, which basically a lot of greens with some nuts with it. I can’t eat any of it because of my gout reaction. Not the best salad but it’s alright.
There’s a total of 5 different flavours for the ribs and depending on your choice, there’s a small price difference as well. I opted for the Flaming Kansas City, while May ordered the Caramelized Plum, both we have no regrets ordering. The server was also kind enough to tell us that it’s better for us to order these 2 are it’s price higher at RM39.90 per half a rack.
Caramelized Plum Ribs, with 2 sides of green salad and baked potato. The ribs are tender and soft, and the plum sauce is very appetizing as well. Although the portion looked small, but it’s pretty filling for lunch.
The server preparing my Flaming Kansas City ribs, looks really cool!
If you’re a fan of spicy food, the Flaming Kansas City sauce is the way to go. Marinated with black pepper and with a tinge of liquor, it’s as good as it looks. Once again, the ribs are top notch, juicy and tender.
May’s parents joined the lunch as well and the basically order a set lunch that is available. But the only downside is they may only order the lower price ribs but the BBQ sauce is equally good. Their fries is also pretty special as it’s beer coated.
The set also comes with a BBQ Chicken Pizza but it was just so so.
The drinks that we order are pretty special too Banana Berry and Peach Lynch both at RM6.90 with the sets (usual price at RM12.90).
By the time desserts were served, we were pretty stuffed! Having said that, the Brownie and the Bread Pudding are pretty delicious, if only we were not that stuff up from the meal, we could have easily finished all of it.
I think Chicago Ribs are worth a try, if you’re into ribs, especially pork ribs. It’s good to know there’s another good place to finally have pork ribs, since Tony Roma’s, which is also famous for ribs, don’t serve pork here in Malaysia.
