Renoma Café Gallery @ Jalan Bukit Bintang

The March edition of GNO brought us to Renoma Café Gallery, a posh looking restaurant located along Jalan Bukit Bintang, opposite Prince Court Medical Centre. We were lucky as the place was booked for a private event, but there’s still a few tables available hence we are seated next to the bar.

Artsy deco inside the café, showcasing some of the fashions from Renoma. The place is dimly lit with dark curtains and design, although elegant but during the course of our meet up, we could see a few mosquitoes whizzing around.

Renoma Café Gallery’s menu could be consider French, with a fusion of Korean and Japanese influenced theme. Happy hours are available from 5pm till 9pm, but the available beers are somewhat limited to just the Carlsberg and Kronenbourg. Price wise on the menu can be consider on the higher end due to the ingredients that’s used on the dishes, be it starters or main course.

Lin, Lau and I were the first to arrive, hence we ordered the Assiette “Forest – Ocean – Farm” (RM30), a starter that consists of assorted cold cuts of Muscovy Duck, Cured Beef, King Salmon and Wild Mushroom Fricassee on toasted bread.

This time around, I went for a girly drink instead of beer, the Yogi Berry (RM16), a concoction of yogurt, strawberry and banana which is very refreshing.

Freshly baked Ciabatta and Dinner roll on the house, delicious and a great way to start the dinner.

I ordered the RCG Classic Burger (RM42), beef patty with mozzarella cheese and mushroom, served with a side salad and sweet potato chips and Sambal Terasi Mayo. The toasted bun is crunchy, and the patty is just nicely done to go ahead with the topping of cheese and mushroom.

Confit of Muscovy Duck Leg (RM46), slow cooked French Duck Leg, with sautéed cocktail potatoes, caramelized onions, baby vegetables with apricot and mustard sauce.

Gambaroni & Spaghetti di Gragnano (RM48), grilled jumbo Tiger Prawns, with sautéed spaghetti Spicy Aglio Olio looks promosing with 2 big prawns and a very delicious and spicy Aglio Olio. However, the portion might be a bit small for big eaters.

The Coq Au Vin (RM42), Burgundy wine infused green chicken, served with sautéed mushroom with pasta.

Most of us agreed that the food is good with loads of French theme cuisine and desserts, while it’s a great place for dinner, it might not be the ideal place to hang out for beers (although you can hang out for wines!). Citibank cardholders can always whipped out their card to enjoy a 20% discount on food and non alcoholic beverages, which is pretty nifty.
