On the 8th day of the 8th month of the 8th year in the new millennium, we got hitched. Fast forward 4 years later, we celebrated our 4th anniversary having a simple dinner at Bone & Pot, leaving the 2 boys at home.
The very first Bone & Pot that I knew existed beside the LDP around Kelana Jaya, today they have 4 locations and this particular one is just a stone throw away from my office.
Bone & Pot is very similar to our local steamboat, where just a single pot is use for everyone to share, rather then the individual pot at other shabu shabu places. Their Signature Pork Bone Broth is highly recommended for starters (like us) and is chargeable at RM15 per pot. No regrets ordering it because even for someone who’s not into soup like me, its sweet and full of flavour.
Kitchmate induction cooktops for each table plus assorted of sauces to go with the meal.
There’s no set menus available (or rather it’s available from 9PM onwards) so we had to go ala carte. Chicken Roll Needle Mushroom (RM9.80), pieces of chicken wrapping up a stalk of enoki. Great presentation although nothing special with it.
Obligatory orders, eggs (RM0.80/pc), Yee Mee (RM2) and Japanese Udon (RM3.80). Udon was the nicest when added into the soup base at the end of the meal.
Fish Dumpling (RM4.80) and Seafood Beancurd (RM4.80), things that you can find in any other steamboat place.
Bone & Pot offers a variety of balls, I like their Homemade Pork Ball (RM1 usual price RM6.90) for it’s firm texture as well as the Cheese Ball (RM8.80/4 pcs) which I read was imported because once you sink your teeth onto one, the cheesy filling just burst out in your mouth. The are others like the squid ball and shrimp ball but we gave all that a miss because of our allergies.
As for meat, we were greedy and order 4 types. The Fresh Slice Grouper (RM19) is fresh while the Fresh Pork Slices (RM11.90) to me was average, but May likes it.
Fresh Lamb Slices (RM15.90) were average too maybe because of the fact that we chose the signature broth. The taste of the lamb doesn’t go very well with the soup.
While the Fresh Pork Neck Slices (RM15.90) was the highlight for the night. Succulent and fresh, I like them because it melts in our mouth, literally!
Thirst quencher, Lime Sour Plum Juice (RM3.80) to down those spiciness away!
Overall, it’s a pretty satisfying anniversary dinner. Price wise, it’s RM152 for the 2 of us which can be consider expensive but it’s only because we’ve over ordered and I can’t wait to give the other broth a try the next time I visit.
Last but not least, I would like to give a big hug and kiss to May for getting me this awesome wallet! Happy ROM Anniversary!
