Been wanting to have some comfort breakfast for quite sometime and the normally the 1st place that came to my mind was Jarrod & Rawlins. Have even set the a date with the family too to have breakfast on last Saturday morning before the Antipodean crept out of nowhere (actually from Vkeong). So we decided to give it a try as well. Skipped the branch in outlet in Bangsar based on feedback as that place is always full after 10AM, so we decided to drop by the one at Menara Tan & Tan since it’s on our way back to Kepong.
The place is quite quiet on a Saturday brunch hour and my guess is not a lot of people knew that the open on weekends now. From what I read, Antipodean use to be closed on weekends (the one at Menara Tan & Tan). May and Kayden after brunch.
Menu is on the wall, so if you’re not sure what to eat, you might need to stand a while before you can decide what’s for breakfast!
See what I mean, May stood there for quite a while before deciding what to have.
Kendric in his cute dungaree. Come to think of it, we first have our comfort breakfast at J&R 2 years back, and Kendric and Kayden do look similar in some way. Go here if you don’t believe it!
May ordered a cup of Cappucino @ RM9. First time we saw coffee art on our coffee, a nice touch!
My Flat White @ RM9 too. Actually have no idea what does Flat White means but that’s what the heart decided when going through the menu.
It’s good to know that it’s baby friendly too, since they have proper high chair for Kayden.
I ordered an All Day Breakfast @ RM18 which consists of a piece of toast, scramble eggs, bacons, grilled tomatoes and my favourite, baked beans! The portion is quite hearty especially the eggs but since we haven’t had our breakfast, the portion is just nice to keep us off till dinner time.
May ordered the Big Breakfast @ RM18, which includes a choice of sausage or bacon, toast, mushroom, eggs and a piece of hash brown. The scramble eggs were silky smooth and slightly runny, add in some salt to enhance the taste. The buttered toast goes great with the eggs or baked beans.
Kayden is a big fan of pancakes, so we ordered him a Banana Pancake with Butterscotch @ RM16. Antipodean’s version of pancake is slightly difference, a bit thicker in size but nevertheless just as tasty. The butterscotch dip makes perfect combination for the banana flavoured pancake.
Antipodean is a great place to chill out during weekends for brunch, and I certainly don’t mind to come again to try the rest on their menu. The ambience is just nice and not too crowded, plus the food is good. The only thing would be if there’s an option to switch the scramble eggs to poach eggs, then that will be perfect!
