The morning we were supposed to leave HK, we met up with a friend for breakfast and coincidentally, the place that she wanted to bring us is also the place that we wanted to go, which is the famous Tim Hou Wan Dim Sum, a 1 Michelin Star Winner and probably the cheapest Michelin Star place that we can afford.

The outlet is located Sham Sui Po and about 5 minutes walk from a nearest MTR station but at least the place is not crowded compare to it’s sister outlet in Mongkok. There’s still a lot of seats when we stepped into the shop and quite spacious.

We quickly place our order and were presented with the bill to pay at the end of the meal. It’s about HKD150 which is consider cheap as I’ve heard that most of the time, dim sum in HK cost at least HKD300 or more.

While waiting for the dim sum, Lai asked SIRI if it knows how would the dim sum taste like, well apparently SIRI don’t understand such questions.

The BBQ Cheong Fun is pretty smooth and tasty.

The Loh Mai Kai (HKD20) is pretty big in it’s size and taste a bit like the normal dumpling. Not spectacular but just nice.

 

Fried Carrot Cake (HKD10) and Ham Sui Kok (HKD12), not oily and just nice.

Chicken Feet (HKD14) and Siew Mai (HKD20), being the most expensive dim sum of all. The chicken feet is delicious, and the siew mai is packed with prawn. Despite my gout diet, I went on to try one and must say it’s pretty good too!

The most famous dim sum here at Tim Hou Wan, it’s the Baked Roasted BBQ Pork Bun (HKD 14) definitely worth a try because it’s just excellent. The crispy outer layer, together with the BBQ Pork is just a match made in heaven!

One is not enough, and it’s so addictive that you can easily finished all 3!

Us with Katy, been a long time since we saw her. She used to come to KL often and we even climbed Mt Kinabalu together. Now she’s working happily at the official Apple Store in HK and also a biz owner. Great catching up session for all of us.

Now we can boast that we have at least eaten at a 1 Star Michelin Award winner’s restaurant, haha!

After saying goodbyes, we head back to Mongkok to do some last minute shopping. We go our separated ways to maximize time and I got to walk around Mongkok to find more jersey places.

Even managed to grab a cup of Gong Cha, although very different from the one we have in KL. We met back at the hotel and it started raining heavily (the weather forecast is very accurate in that sense) and we have to run all the way to Nathan Road to catch the bus to the airport. The A21 Airport Flyer goes directly to the airport and is quite convenient and cost about HKD35 and took less than an hour.

Since we were a bit drench with rain, we got changed at the airport before checking in at Terminal 2 and have our very late lunch at the departure hall.

Tsui Wah, they even have a counter at the airport. I took the chance to try their pork burger.

Pretty good although I do find the bun is a bit chewy but the pork is good!

Lai couldn’t resist ordering Wan Tan Mee the last time before we leave HK.

After our late lunch, we proceed to do some last minute shopping before realizing that our flight got delayed and only took off from HK about 7-ish that day.

Overall it’s a pretty good trip, all the food and stuff but I do find that HK is a little bit cramp and there’s a lot of Chinese nationals all over the country, somehow made the experience a little bit off. Having said that, I will still drop by again when Kayden is older and there’s still quite a number of eateries that I want to try!
