Tongs Roast Workshop @ Fraser Business Park, Off Loke Yew Roundabout

August 4, 2011

Whenever I was driving back home from my office, this place called Tongs Roast Workshop never failed to get my notice. I mean the big signboard is quite catchy from the outside, and I always thought was would the place sell. It was not until I saw another branch at the famous Wing Heng Kopitiam, to know that it’s actually selling roasted meat. So when May was driving over to have lunch last week, I suggested to give this place a try.

Get what I mean, although I can’t work out what’s the 2nd word but it’s a pretty interesting signboard.

A nice and comfortable place, with a number of tables available.

The standard is available, like the Chicken rice or Char Siew Rice. Price wise is pretty alright too with RM6.80 with drink and soup.

Both of us ordered the Double Roast Rice Set @ RM8.80 and we get to choose from the selection indicated above. Drinks selections is also available. Of course, there are additional charges if you ordered thigh/drumstick like a normal chicken rice stall.

Sugar Cane Water Chestnut drink. Refreshing and not too sweet with a few pieces of water chestnut too!

My combination is their Roasted Pork and Braised Chicken set.

While May ordered the BBQ Pork and Roasted Chicken set.

The portion are considered pretty standard and once we have taken a bite, we were surprised at the quality of the roasted meat. The BBQ Pork is roasted nicely and the portion provided have an ample of fats and lean meat together. The same can be said for the Roasted Pork as well.

The braised chicken is not bad, it’s tender and had absorbed most of the gravy that is made to cook it, although the place can provide more gravy for us to go with the rice. The roasted chicken is equivalently good, roasted to perfection.

We also a generous portion of Bean Sprout @ RM3.

The rice and soup that comes standard with every set. The soup is pretty good!

It was a great and satisfying lunch, especially with May since she’s eating for 2 now. The total bill come out to be RM21.20, which is pretty economical as well. Looks like there’s an alternative place now for me to eat chicken rice near my office.
