My grandpa left us for almost 4 years now, and this year is my 4th time celebrating Qing Ming. We celebrated it a week early as next week we have a job to do.
It was a breezy Saturday morning, the sun is not as hot as the previous years and just nice. We reached Nirwana about 715AM and this time around, the crowd is not as much.
This year around, it’s extra special because all my uncles are back, ever since grandpa left in 2007.
My grandpa was a very proud man, youngest in the family, he literally build up a transport company all by himself, with the help of my grandma of course. Retiring early, I still recalled he will bring me to the coffee house each morning to have siew mai, and hence that contributed to my size now.
He suffered a stroke when I just started working for about 2 years, and from there, his health deteriorates further. Remember that me and May was supposed to get married in 2007, however with respect of his passing, we postponed the wedding a year later.
Anyway grandpa, I hope you are well and like the iPad and iPhone that we bought!
Of course, celebrating QIng Ming means food galore as well! Some bao, loh mai kai and chin dui.
More baos, siu yuk, chicken, fruits and chiffon cake.
Waiting for the right time to burn our offering and asking for a lucky number.
May and Kayden didn’t follow this time around because he’s still so young, maybe next year he will be here to give his great grandpa a visit.
