Frontera is located at Jaya One and have a tagline that it’s the Home of Hardcore Tex-Mex food. So for Pat’s 30th Birthday, we decided to give this place a try over Sunday lunch.
Uncle Pat and Kayden posing for the camera! Both also like to stick a finger to their mouth.
While waiting for the latecomers to arrive, we went ahead to order the Frontera Fiesta Platter (RM34.95) that consist of Golden Chicken Fillet, Habanero Chicken Wings, Taquitos and Chilli Cheese. It’s pretty special compare to the ones at Chillis or TGI.
Lai being a Chicken Wing’s fan, ordered another bucket of Habanero Hot Wings (RM17.95). There’s 3 grade, there’s the mild, super and inferno. I would definitely go for the Inferno but the Super is pretty spicy as well. Not for the faint hearted.
The Chicken Tortilla Soup (RM12.95) is fresh and refreshing but I find it a bit too sour.
The Fajita Ranchera Burritos (RM22.95) with a selection of either beef or chicken.
Tex Mex Burrito (RM22.95) that Pat ordered. Looks really cheesy and packed with carbo!
Chicken Enchiladas (RM28.95) seemed like a popular choice with 3 of them ordering it. It’s basically a corn tortilla rolled around a filling and covered with chilli pepper sauce. I think that it’s a bit more ketchup-y than spicy. Burrito on the order hand consists of flour tortilla wrapped around a filling.
All Enchiladas and Burritos set came with side dishes of Tomato Rice (at least it taste like it) and Chilli Corn Carne. I find the rice a bit disappointing as it’s tasteless and don’t complement well with the set.
Some of us are more conventional in ordering and decided to go with burgers and just fajita. The Chicken Ranch Sandwich (RM17.95) is one of those conventional meals.
Lin’s Cajun Fish n Chips (RM22.95). Quite different from the ones you ordered else where. The batter looks more flaky.
Texas Bacon Cheese Burger (RM22.95), slices of beef bacon on beef patty and a piece of cheese. Served with Jalapeno salad and fries.
My Texas BBQ Burger (RM23.95), basically the same as the above with the exception of onion rings. I have to say that the beef patty is quite good and juicy. Definitely get the thumbs up from me.
Lai ordered the Fajita Platters Chicken (RM31.95), which I think is one of the usual suspect you can get at a Mexican diner.
It’s been a while that the entire group gather together. Although the food is not super nice (quite a lot of carb if you ask me, but hey it’s Mexican food, what do you expect?), the company is good. I think this is the 1st time this year that almost 90% turn up (minus Kellie), so Pat, it’s consider quite alright lar! Although it’s not the most expensive lunch, you get a party with the most participation. Anyway, have a Happy 30th Birthday, Uncle Patrick!
