Our Baby, Pa-sonaru

Meeting Baby Kayden – D Day (Part I)

January 10, 2010

It’s like any normal Thursday, we finished our laundry and just go on doing what ever things that we do or a normal Thursday. May slept early like 930PM while I am finishing off the last post.

May was just telling me that she felt that Baby might want to choose an auspicious day. Both of us just laughed it off and she head to sleep first, and I slept about quarter to 11PM due to slight stomach-ache (darn, it must be the Michael Jackson that I made earlier)

May woke me up and said that she had a slight contraction. While me, I had to go to the toilet because throughout the night, my stomach don’t feel like (damn the Michael Jackson drink!).

Both of us didn’t slept after that, because both of us feel that he might come out today.

May started getting more frequent contraction. Both of us still don’t want to go to the hospital because we still feel that it’s a bit early. May texted her sis and she called back. Her contraction are getting more painful the one after another. There are a few times that she can’t even talk, and seriously I thought that she will just pass out.

She texted her boss to let her know that she will be going to the hospital, I went to 7-11 to get some bread so that she can eat it there. I dropped my BB on the floor when entering my house, there’s a minor chip off.

May started to felt that there’s blood and we think that it’s a good idea that we head to the hospital at 7AM. However, the pain is so teruk that we decided to go there earlier. I freshen up and get ready.

We decided to head out, May’s pain is getting more intense and can’t even walk with each contraction happening. I told mom that we will head to Pantai now.

I dropped May at the hospital lobby while I parked my car. By the time I walked in, the nurse have pushed her up to the Labour Ward. I stayed behind to do the admission procedure.

May took my wallet along, so I had to go up to take my wallet. She’s already in the labour room. I went back down to lobby and paid the RM1300 deposit.

Remember my stomach ache earlier in the night, I got hit by diarrhoea so I went to the washroom before going up to the labour ward.

I walked to the Maternity ward and the nurse brought me outside of the labour room. She asked me to wait before going in.

I heard a baby crying, I was thinking to myself, there must be another person delivering now. I was actually a bit lost.

The nurse told me that May had delivered. I told her how come so fast? She said her dilation is already 8cm when we reached the hospital. I told her how could it be, because we read the book inside, outside whichever side. She said, sometimes the book is not accurate. I was like HUH? (Note to all, yeah book is not 100% accurate so be prepared!). I had a look at Baby Kayden, only his left eye is wide open all wrapped up in a swaddle.

I called home to tell my mom that May’s delivered. Then I called May’s parents to break the news, follow by SMSes to all my friends.

May is still in the labour room, while I waited outside.

The doctor came out and congratulates me and make a joke when I slept the day before we are still 2 person. Now there’s a 3rd person. I asked how come she delivered so fast as compare to other 1st time mother, she said it’s just one of those lucky cases. And he walked away, wearing his slippers.

I went into the labour room and May looked like she passed out. Apparently she’s tired because of the after effect of the gas that she used as pain killers. The nurse brought baby Kayden over because both of us insisted that we want to only breastfeed. May was too tired to even hold him so we have to send him to the nursery first (the nurse said something about the baby will get hypo/hipo if not being feed the 1st hour) to be spoon feed.

May is sent back to the maternity ward. She’s still tired, while I stayed back to see what to do.

It is fast and beyond our expectation. Got scolded by the elders for waiting for so long. Doc also said it’s lucky because one of those few cases that able to deliver so fast. The only problem is I missed the chance going into the labour room.
