2nd Day of Raya Dinner @ Chow Yhang Restaurant, SS2

October 13, 2009

Hooray, finally my laptop screen is not flickering! It’s actually good coz for the past few weeks, the screen is flickering non stop and I am having a severe backache as I am connecting my laptop to my LCD tv to counter the flickering. It’s good to be able to sit in a proper spot and blog.

A few weeks back during the long Raya weekend, my family had a dinner gathering at Chow Yhang Restaurant in SS2. I have heard numerous times of this place as my aunty was always talking about it, so it’s about time for me to pay a visit.

The place is quite pack as it’s the Raya holidays. Well, it’s always a good sign as this means food must be really good. It’s lucky for us as my aunt had made bookings, so we managed to avoid the waiting time.

Well, my aunt have actually pre ordered the dishes as well so it’s smooth flowing all the way.

1st to come is fried duck. I would say it’s deep fried and top with a very special sauce. But any of you reading this and will be going to this place, it is one of their signature dish. It’s juicy and tasty that even me who are not supposed to eat duck meat can’t resist to have a few bite too.

Next up is their signature braised pork ribs. Another must try because the ribs are so flavourful and tender. The sauce goes very well with rice too.

The fish maw plus sea cucumber and broccoli is equally good. The sea cucumber is soft enough and compliments well with the fish maw.

The ‘Seng Gua’ Tofu is not bad either, primarily ordered for Jasmin Tan as she likes tofu a lot.

Highlight of the dinner is definitely this Curry Assam Fish. The gravy is a bit sourish sort of assam taste but also have coconut curry blended into it. Topped with mint leaves, recalling it actually makes my saliva drools!

Last but not least, Stir Fried Yin Choy (sorry I forgotten the English name, hehe!)

Price wise I think it’s quite reasonable considering the amount of dishes we ordered. I think the billed come up to about RM400+ for 2 tables. I am not sure about you but I think for my next makan makan session with my friends, I think I will get them to pay this place a visit!
